The role of the resonance in the reaction
We investigate the photo-production in the reaction within the effective Lagrangian method near
threshold. In addition to the "background" contributions from the contact,
channel exchange, and channel nucleon pole terms, which were
already considered in previous works, the contribution from the nucleon
resonance (spin-parity ) is also considered. We show
that the inclusion of the nucleon resonance leads to a fairly good
description of the new LEPS differential cross section data, and that these
measurements can be used to determine some of the properties of this latter
resonance. However, serious discrepancies appear when the predictions of the
model are compared to the photon-beam asymmetry also measured by the LEPS

Herschel-Bulkley rheology from lattice kinetic theory of soft-glassy materials
We provide a clear evidence that a two species mesoscopic Lattice Boltzmann
(LB) model with competing short-range attractive and mid-range repulsive
interactions supports emergent Herschel-Bulkley (HB) rheology, i.e. a power-law
dependence of the shear-stress as a function of the strain rate, beyond a given
yield-stress threshold. This kinetic formulation supports a seamless transition
from flowing to non-flowing behaviour, through a smooth tuning of the
parameters governing the mesoscopic interactions between the two species. The
present model may become a valuable computational tool for the investigation of
the rheology of soft-glassy materials on scales of experimental interest.Comment: 5 figure
Towards the Gravity Dual of Quarkonium in the Strongly Coupled QCD Plasma
We build a "bottom-up" holographic model of charmonium by matching the
essential spectral data. We argue that this data must include not only the
masses but also the decay constants of the J/psi and psi' mesons. Relative to
the "soft-wall" models for light mesons, such a matching requires two new
features in the holographic potential: an overall upward shift as well as a
narrow "dip" near the holographic boundary. We calculate the spectral function
as well as the position of the complex singularities (quasinormal frequencies)
of the retarded correlator of the charm current at finite temperatures. We
further extend this analysis by showing that the residues associated with these
singularities are given by the boundary derivative of the appropriately
normalized quasinormal mode. We find that the "melting" of the J/psi spectral
peak occurs at a temperature of about 540 MeV, or 2.8 T_c, in good agreement

Strangeness Content in the Nucleon
I review recent studies of strangeness content in the nucleon pertaining to
the flavor-singlet , the matrix element and the strangeness
electric and magnetic form factors and , based on
lattice QCD calculations. I shall also discuss the relevance of incorporating
the strangeness content in nuclei in regard to strange baryon-antibaryon
productions from proton-nucleus and nucleus-nucleus collisions at SPS and RHIC

The barrel DIRC of PANDA
Cooled antiproton beams of unprecedented intensities in the momentum range of 1.5-15 GeV/c will be used for the PANDA experiment at FAIR to perform high precision experiments in the charmed quark sector. The PANDA detector will investigate antiproton annihilations with beams in the momentum range of 1.5 GeV/c to 15 GeV/c on a fixed target. An almost 4π acceptance double spectrometer is divided in a forward spectrometer and a target spectrometer. The charged particle identification in the latter is performed by ring imaging Cherenkov counters employing the DIRC principle
Electron-deuteron scattering in a current-conserving description of relativistic bound states: formalism and impulse approximation calculations
The electromagnetic interactions of a relativistic two-body bound state are
formulated in three dimensions using an equal-time (ET) formalism. This
involves a systematic reduction of four-dimensional dynamics to a
three-dimensional form by integrating out the time components of relative
momenta. A conserved electromagnetic current is developed for the ET formalism.
It is shown that consistent truncations of the electromagnetic current and the
interaction kernel may be made, order-by-order in the coupling constants,
such that appropriate Ward-Takahashi identities are satisfied. A meson-exchange
model of the interaction is used to calculate deuteron vertex functions.
Calculations of electromagnetic form factors for elastic scattering of
electrons by deuterium are performed using an impulse-approximation current.
Negative-energy components of the deuteron's vertex function and retardation
effects in the meson-exchange interaction are found to have only minor effects
on the deuteron form factors.Comment: 42 pages, RevTe
No Sommerfeld resummation factor in e+e- -> ppbar ?
The Sommerfeld rescattering formula is compared to the e+e- -> ppbar BaBar
data at threshold and above. While there is the expected Coulomb enhancement at
threshold, two unexpected outcomes have been found: |G^p (4M_p^2)|= 1, like for
a pointlike fermion, and moreover data show that the resummation factor in the
Sommerfeld formula is not needed. Other e+e- -> baryon-antibaryon cross
sections show a similar behavior near threshold.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figure
Electromagnetic Form Factors of the Nucleon in an Improved Quark Model
Nucleon electromagnetic form factors are studied in the cloudy bag model
(CBM) with center-of-mass and recoil corrections. This is the first
presentation of a full set of nucleon form factors using the CBM. The center of
mass motion is eliminated via several different momentum projection techniques
and the results are compared. It is found that the shapes of these form factors
are significantly improved with respect to the experimental data if the Lorentz
contraction of the internal structure of the baryon is also appropriately taken
